Webr-click file, and select 'Git: View File History' it does show the history of the file, but it also goes further back in time to before the file existed and shows entries from unrelated files. In the attached /uploaded image, you can see commits past 'Add HL_UT to jenkins conf' by Ben Rant. This was the commit that originated the file HL_UT.xml Web1.
