WebJan 9, 2024 · React's useRef hook, short for reference, allows us to persist data across renders without causing the component to rerender. A typical use case for this hook would be to store a DOM element, which we can use to access it programmatically. You can also use it to keep a reference to the previous state of a component. How to use useRef WebuseRef () only returns one item. It returns an Object called current. When we initialize useRef we set the initial value: useRef (0). It's like doing this: const count = {current: 0}. We can access the count by using count.current. Run this on your computer and try typing in the input to see the application render count increase.
